Condition:

This small cemetery is about 45 feet by 45 feet. It is completely enclosed by a net and barbed wire fence with no gate. A heavy growth of underbrush and tangled brier and a covering of ground creeping vines cover the complete enclosure. Gravesites are not visible from outside the fence. Cutting tools must be used to locate most grave markers. A very large live oak with limbs sagging to the ground makes some areas almost impassable.

History:

(From article in San Saba News and Star, October 5, 1972)

" Farr Cemetery is located on the west bank of Fort Hollow (Creek), [not Simpson Creek as article stated.] It is a short distance from Carl Carter's house ... on Carter property. Land for the burial place was given by T. J. (Jeff) Farr and Rebecca French Farr. Six of their children died in infancy. One of their children was the first to be buried in this cemetery. The last burial was Sophronia French Farr, wife of Samuel H. Farr, on February 17, 1960. There are ten marked graves and about seventeen unmarked. Many of the markers are broken and the inscriptions are not discernable.

[As of October 5, 1972] names and dates that can be read on markers in the cemetery are:

Mrs. R. B. Pate, "Daughter of A. Russell Thomas Farr, March 27, 1819 October 19, 1882 Fannie Farr (Maultsby) April 19, 1882 T. B. Farr (Son of S. H. Farr) January 25, 1883 October 1883 T. J.
