W. N. Clark Family Cemetery

1. The W.N. Clark Family Cemetery: This is one of the most recently established of the several family cemeteries in San Saba County. It is about a one‑half acre plot in an open area of pasture land a short distance to the west of the Clark home site. W. N. (Bill) Clark was the first burial at the burial ground. Bill Clark died September 6, 1987, and was buried in the Senterfitt Cemetery in Lampasas County. Later, that same year, his remains were exhumed, removed and reburied under a large oak tree a
short distance from and in front of the west‑facing home of the Clark family. Since his reburial there, a daughter, a son‑in‑law and his wife have died and are also buried at this location. His wife, Jessie Swindell, died March 31, 2002, and is buried along side his grave, and they are listed on a single tombstone.

2. William Nolan (Bill) Clark (Number I in the Listing): W.N. (Bill) Clark, the son of John Clark and Mollie Dennis, was born May 1, 1904, in Oklahoma. Bill Clark married Jessie Ernestine Swindell, and they settled in the Bend area of San Saba County. Ten children were born to this union, nine daughters and one son. They also raised another adopted daughter. The children, listed in the order of birth are:

3. Jessie Ernestine Clark ( No. 4 in the Listing): Jessie Clark, the daughter of James Berry Swindell and Katie Plant, was born in Lee County, Texas, on July 13, 1911. She died at age 90 and is buried in the family cemetery by the side of her husband.

4. Jean Clark Homan (Number 2 in the Listing): Jean Holman, the adopted daughter of W.N. (Bill) Clark and Jessie Swindell, was born April 24, 1925. She married Grady Gerald Holman September 25, 1955. She died September 17, 1989, and was the

5. Quentin O. Pike (Number 3 in the Listing): Quentin Pike was the son‑in‑law of W. N. Clark and Jessie Swindell Clark and the husband of Mary Clark. He was a World War II U. S. Army veteran. He died January 13, 200 1, and was the third burial in the Clark Family Cemetery.
