Woods Family Cemetery

Location:     The Woods family Cemetery is located in western San Saba County in the Sloan community on the property originally owned by R. E. and Susan Woods. (Now a part of the Jack Sloan ranch)
 

Directions:

 From San Saba city limit go west 2.2 miles on U.S. 190 to FM 2732 (the Sloan road).

Turn left onto FM 2732. Go west 9.8 miles to end of pavement.

At end of pavement (2732) turn sharp right onto CR 350.

Go north 0.8 on CR 350 (cross San Saba River on low‑water bridge) to CR 362        

Go across CR 362 and over cattle guard and veer left at sign "To Richland Springs."

Go 0.5 mile on very rough road to dimly visible road on left (just before house).

Turn sharp left onto road into pasture ‑ go through gate and continue 0.1 mile to cemetery on your right. It is about 50 yards off the road under two large oak trees. 

(Park and walk to the cemetery.)

Condition: 

This old cemetery is located in an open uncultivated field under a large live oak tree. The enclosed area measures 60 feet north‑to‑south and 20 feet east‑to‑west. Joe Ellis Jr., a great-grandson of Robert Woods has recently re-fenced and cleaned the grounds.

Transcriptions: 

The Wood cemetery was started in 1870 when Robert and Susan Woods second child was born.  Those buried there are:

M. E. Graver                         1869 - 1878
